A Noé21 working group is studying legislative bills for the Canton of Geneva to achieve the goals of the Climate Plan for Geneva.
The new “Energy law” approved by referendum Sunday, March 7, 2010 is a first step in the right direction on new standards and isolation of existing buildings in Geneva. But it is unfortunately far from being sufficient.
According to our estimates, a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions in the area of construction will require renovations of between 5000 and 10000 buildings at Minergy standard before 2020, which represents an investment of about $ 1 billion per year.
The amounts allocated to these works (including grants provided by the state) should be much higher than those provided by the law approved by referendum.
